I’ve heard that my oral health can affect my entire body.  Is this true?

Yes, researchers are finding many connections between problems with the teeth and gums and systemic diseases.  For example, the bacteria that causes periodontal disease seem to be linked to conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and even low birth weight babies.  The scientific evidence is showing that keeping your teeth and gums healthy is essential to maintaining optimal overall health.

What happens if I don’t like the way my smile comes out?

We can truly say that we’ve never had a patient who isn’t much happier with their new smile than with their old one—and most of our patients love the way they look after their dental treatments are complete!

That’s mainly because we do everything we can before starting treatment to ensure that you will be happy with the final result.  Dr. Shepard will sit down and discuss your options with you; he’ll listen carefully to what you want before drawing up his suggestions for treatment.  We’ll also do a cosmetic wax model of your new smile before we begin so that you can have a good idea of what your new smile will look like when we’re finished.

You’re not a member of my dental PPO.  Does that mean you can’t treat me?

Although we are not listed as providers in any PPO, we can still provide treatment for you. Preferred providers are dentists who accept a fee structure provided by the insurance company.  If you come to us, you’ll have a slightly larger co-pay, but you’ll also benefit from Dr. Shepard’s expertise and experience so that you’ll get the best possible care (and not only the minimal care that most insurers are willing to pay for).

Do you accept my insurance?

We do accept all insurances except those from dental HMOs or dental capitation programs (where you must go to a participating dentist).  We take assignments of benefits for all non-preventive dental procedures.
